Floral Centerpieces and What To Do With Them

I have often suggested that when thinking about your centerpieces you should consider height and how it affects conversation. You know they say one picture is worth a thousand words so here is the picture. Image trying to carry on a conversation with the two women on the other side of the tulips in this photo:

Another thing to think about is what will happen to your centerpieces when the reception is over. You may wish to give the flowers to some of your guests. Your DJ can help you by making announcements or even playing a quick game with the guests so that one person at each table is “the winner” of the centerpiece.

Depending on the size of your wedding party you may even designate ahead of time that each member of your wedding party or specific family members should take the centerpieces. When giving away floral centerpieces be aware that the florist may be expecting to get the containers back, so work that out ahead of time.

Or consider live plants. I had one bride who placed potted chrysanthemums at each table. When the reception was over she took the flowers home and planted them in her yard as a permanent reminder of her wedding day.
